Brooklyn Coffee Dark Italian Roast

Time to move on since the bags of Eight O'Clock & Hills Brothers are finished.  I really liked both of those dark roasts and since I have a 5 pound bag of Brooklyn I hope it is as good.  Morning temps are cooler now...it's DEFINITELY Fall AND there is NO better way to start a cool morning than 20 ounces of hot dark roast coffee!

  2. I assumed that you were busy...T-Giving and soon Christmas! I REALLY like this coffee...it's a VERY dark roast which is great on these cool fall mornings. I started buying it a couple years ago when it was $0.39/ounce...now it's 0.75/ounce which is fairly average for most coffee now.

    1. It is a bit alarming how much grocery prices have gone up. Meat especially, but really just everything.

    2. YES it is! I buy clean beef from a local farmer in Spartenburg and the meat is really good...no hormones or drugs AND he delivers! 4 years ago it was $6/pound...last time I bought some it was $8/pound...reordered yesterday and I expect it to be higher. I shop mostly at Aldi every 4-6 weeks and my bill has tripled from 4-5 years ago. I do bake bread and even those wheat has become more expensive I can still bake a loaf of good clean bread for a lot less than the junk sold in the stores. I bought a grinder and now by wheat berries and grind to flour as needed...there are significant nutritional advantages to using freshly ground flour. My property taxes have been constant for the time I have been in the house...from 2019. I don't see an end to things getting more expensive unfortunately...fortunately for me it does not take much to keep me occupied and happy...I have lawn to mow, books to read, computers to play with, projects to work on and generally speaking I am very happy to be out of the workforce!

    3. I buy grass fed organic beef and it tastes so much better than the other crap. It even looks like beef and not like some ground up goo with pink slime in it. It is $8 a pound also. I have chickens so I get fresh eggs every morning . I try to get all fresh produce also but sometimes I have to use frozen vegetables. I'm trying to teach my granddaughter about nutrition and she now looks at things and tells me she won't eat this or that because it is full of preservatives. She has stayed healthy the almost five years she has been with me. Her friends get sick and miss school but she has not missed any school for being sick. Well I am off to go walk this morning. I have to train for something which I will write about later today. Have a beautiful week my friend!

  3. TOTALLY agree about good beef! I buy from these people...a small local farm: https://upstatebeef.com/about-us Nutrition is so important. We were raised pre-junk but now it takes a bit of effort to avoid the trash...HFCS is EVERYWHERE...glyphosate is in much of what is grown...and all the dyes...preservatives...it's all cheap poison setting people up for diabetes, a weak immune system and MANY trips to the Doc for pills...it is disgusting and a reflection on how ignorant many people are and how willing other people are to sell poison...OK...done with the rant...ENJOY your walk...I need to do the same!
