The house came with a 2,000 square foot metal building....commercial grade...power (200 amp), water & septic...really nice. Been trying to get it into useful shape and it's a bit more work than I had expected!
Clean and ready to move in:
Moved in:
Almost a 180 degree panorama 20 feet into the building...at least the floor is mostly clear!
Still have a LOT of work to do to figure out what is in all the boxes...decades of projects saved for when I had the time...I now have the time but do I have the energy?
Well what would it take to get you motivated? I am curious about what is in all those boxes!
ReplyDeleteI have some projects too, but no motivation so I do understand. Maybe just start with one box and don't think any farther ahead than that.
A LONG time ago I was interested in vintage audio equipment and I have accumulated a collection of mostly vacuum tube equipment from the 1950, 60s and early 70s as well as a collection of classic test and measurement equipment and that is what is in some of the boxes. Many of the remaining boxes contain components to build other projects that at one time I was interested in. Some of the equipment is going on 70 years old and much of it older than 50 years and ALL of it needs to be carefully started up and probably repaired....capacitors this old tend to go bad and many components in general at this age can get iffy...SO...LOTS of work to go through all of this but before I can do that I need to figure out what I have and then get all the test equipment working and then finally get to the actual equipment and projects...decades of collecting and put away for when I had the time...now I have the time but not sure if I have the interest, attention span or energy.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is so cool! Maybe once you start opening the boxes and looking through them, your interest will re-awaken and then the enery will come to you!
ReplyDeleteI hope the enthusiasm returns. The equipment I have is all classic stuff and sounds very good when cleaned up and put in good working shape. hopefully once I get back to it (after all the organization/prep work is done) the fun will return.
ReplyDeleteIn grad school I had a little recording studio and did acoustic music...folk & bluegrass, chamber music etc...and I was able to make some really good tapes. With all the acoustic music around here it would be fun to do that again although I have a LOT that needs to be done before I have an equipment set capable of getting back to it. One big plus is I now have the space to do it all which makes things a LOT easier.
